i wouldnt say its important blue.

the reason for the question is if kerry is elected, he will either raise taxes for those will household incomes over 50k, or take away some of the writeoffs.

im wondering if those people who will be effected still want kerry to be elected.

funny, i heard kerry on the radio saying that he will give a tax cut to 98% of americans.

i would say that way more than 2% of americans make more than $50k.

blue,

i dont know anything about what he said on the radio, but i DO KNOW he said that households with incomes over 50k would be taxed higher so that those under 50k could get some tax relief.

from what he says, he aims to raise taexes for those whose incomes are over $200,000 a year and put them back at clinton levels.

most households making over $50k are not rich. $50k-$75k per househould is the definition of middle class in this country.

if this liberal clown gets elected, he'll claim he's taxing the rich folks and sock it to just about everybody...just like all the liberals before him.

And if Dubya gets elected we'll be merrily on our way for further tax breaks for his buddies in the energy industry, tax cuts geared to greatly benefit the wealthy and further budget defciits spiraling out of control.

great article in newseek analyzes why Bush's tax cuts did nothing for the middle class other than shift the tax burden to them.

newsweek...that liberal rag. might as well quote the national enquirer.

dont ever forget that the terrible, awful, cheating rich people in this country are the ones that own the businesses and employ just about everyone else. make it tough on them, the first thing they'll do is fire people.

what do you want, lower taxes or a job?

I think you're both right. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to discover that Kerry said both statements. I can't speak for Mudbone but I did indeed receive a tax break. When I filed my taxes here recently, my declared AGI was just under 53K. The difference between now and last year is a point and a half. That doesn't sound like much but it adds up after a while. The more you earn and the greater the cut, the higher the tax figure that you save.

I don't know if Mudbone is implying that I should return my $800 to the government to help the poor. My charitable giving has risen along with my dispensible income so it's not like I'm pocketing all my extra money. I simply choose to support causes that favor my social positions.

uncle moneybags...you make over $50k? then you are a rich guy. who cares about the charities you feel worthy of your contributions. you should pay more taxes than people who are less ambitious than you and make less money. and, those taxes should go to fund the programs that congress wants to fund.

if your boss makes $250k, he will pay an even bigger tax burden. because he owns the business you work at, most likely in the form of a sub s corporation or an llc, the business income will be taxed at his personal tax rate. if he can't continue to earn enough from his business to finance his ridiculous lifestyle, he has two choices:

learn to live on less money or,

cut his business expenses.

hmmmm, which will he choose? let's assume, just for the sake of arguement, that he chooses the second option. now, what is the biggest expense in most business...BING! its labor.

Kerry has repeated stated that he would roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy (200K+ /yr) credit.

I haven't heard anything about 50K.

This guy works for the IRS. After you answer he tracres where you live and then about a week later he shows up at your door with 2 other people and starts asking for documents and information. Be wary of him.

Angus,

Ouch! I remember when I made $23,000 per year and I only paid like 7%-8%. Are you sure that's right?

Patriot,

I beg to differ. Maybe if they have 2 kids and a bunch of other deductions they won't but I did.

In addition to already supporting those goldbricks on the welfare doles now, I also contribute directly to charities that better utilize their funds and are more appreciative of the donation. You may love to pay taxes. Good for you! I'll take the $800.

Actually, utilities are the biggest cost by far and that is an area very difficult to cut costs. Generally, if you cut utilities then you can cut labor, raw materials and transportation. However, you won't be moving anything and as a result you won't be making money. It's kind of like the rising tide theory.

Also, I don't consider myself rich because I claimed over 50K this year. What does it mean if I have 184K in debt? There is a difference between rich and making ends meet. I know people right now that are living hand to mouth and they make significantly more than I do. Are they rich? Of course not, because if they were out of work for 6 weeks or more, they would be ruined financially. I consider rich to be someone in a position not to worry about money for at least 2 years.
